  Motec moves into second gear

Two teams of Motec leave for Ghana on the 1st and 2nd of June for a two week working visit. All arrangements are in place for the teams to start work at Koforidua St Joseph’s Orthopaedic Hospital, and Holy Family Hospital Nkawkaw. This will be the first time Motec starts works at Nkawkaw where many general surgical cases mainly hernia, varicose vein, breast pathologies and others will be treated under the Clinical leadership of Mr. S. P. Raymond, Consultant General Surgeon, West Herts NHS Trust. Mr Raymond will be supported by Dr. Ami Kotecha - Anaesthetist, Mrs. Ofori-Atta - Operating Department Practitioner, Mrs Mercy Archampong - Senior Scrub Nurse and Mr. Raymond Yeboah Ofori - Chief Biomedical Scientist / Microbiologist.

Motec will also for the first time have two orthopaedic surgeons for Koforidua St Joseph’s Hospital. Mr George Bannerman will join Mr Ofori-Atta and both will be assisted by Mr Simon Derbie - Senior Nurse Anaesthetist/ Operating Department Practitioner, Miss Rosemary Doogan - Theatre Manager / Technician / Multi-talented Senior Scrub Nurse, Mrs Veronica MacQuarshie - Senior Scrub Nurse, Mr Raymond Ofori- Microbiologist (two sites) and Miss Davinia Legget - Senior Physiotherapist with special interest in Rehabilitation of amputees. Support equipment for the working visit has already been airlifted to Ghana through an arrangement sponsored by Corin U.K.

While in Ghana, a sub group of Motec will visit Pramso St Michael’s and Tema General Hospitals. Social visits to Boti falls and Lake Bosomtwi have also been planned.

The group returns to U.K on 17th June.
